Silver medallists in 2019, Italy will be a team to beat in Pool D

The teams set to participate in the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship learnt their fate on Monday when a draw was held to decide the composition of four pools.

Set to take place in the Netherlands and Belgium, this year's edition of the Women's U20 World Championship will be played from July 9 to 18 in the cities of Rotterdam and Kortrijk.

Pools A and C will take place in Rotterdam while pools B and D are held in Kortrijk.

Updated on July 5:

The FIVB endeavours to ensure the participation of all sixteen qualified teams for the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Women U20 World Championship.

In view of the travel ban imposed on countries in Belgium’s high-risk list, the Belgium Volleyball Federation has explored all avenues in an attempt to secure an exemption for entry for Team Argentina, Team Brazil and Team Russia, without success. As such, the FIVB, in alignment with the Organisers, has amended the original pool composition (drawn during the drawing of lots ceremony on 14 June 2021) accordingly.

Pool A now features the Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina and Rwanda. In Pool B, Belgium will play Serbia, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Pool C is composed of Turkey, Russia, USA and Thailand. Pool D includes Italy, Poland, Belarus and Egypt.
