Bahrain is set to host the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship for the third time, with the event returning to Manama just four years after the most recent edition was held in the country, in 2019. The nation also welcomed the FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship not long ago, in 2017.
Manama is the capital and largest city of Bahrain, with an approximate population of 200,000 people. Founded in the 1800s, the city became the mercantile capital of the region and is an important financial hub in the Middle East. Manama was designated in 2012 as the capital of Arab culture by the Arab League.
Located in the northeastern corner of Bahrain on a small peninsula, Manama's name comes from an Arabic word that means "the place of dreams".
