Il Brasile ha esteso la sua supremazia a livello continentale per un altro anno: le medaglie d'argento alle Olimpiadi di Tokyo hanno conquistato il loro 23° titolo di Campione Sudamericano Femminile questa settimana davanti ai loro tifosi di casa a Recife.
Le brasiliane hanno vinto tutti e quattro gli incontri disputati nel corso della settimana e non hanno perso nemmeno un set, conquistando il titolo continentale per la quattordicesima volta consecutiva. Il quarto e ultimo trionfo è avvenuto mercoledì, quando hanno spazzato via (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) la Colombia con 13 punti della stella del blocco centrale Thaisa Menezes.
"Ho sentito che la squadra è migliorata dopo ogni partita", ha commentato il capitano e battitore esterno Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães. "I tifosi sono stati incredibili e ci siamo nutriti della loro energia in campo. Il nostro obiettivo era quello di conquistare il titolo sudamericano ed è stato bello vedere i progressi della squadra nel corso della settimana. Abbiamo ancora molta strada da fare, ma stiamo andando nella giusta direzione".
